Summary
Serve as a trusted regulatory advisor, providing clear, practical, and commercially focused advice on gambling regulation, licence conditions, and regulatory requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Responsibilities
- Conduct legal research and regulatory analysis, interpreting new and emerging legislation and assessing its impact on the business.
- Respond to regulatory queries from internal stakeholders, providing well-reasoned guidance while escalating complex or high-risk matters where appropriate.
- Advise on customer-facing terms and conditions, complaints, and other regulatory matters affecting the business.
- Lead regulatory impact assessments for new products, market launches, strategic initiatives, and business changes, identifying regulatory risks and recommending practical mitigation strategies.
- Support strategic planning by providing regulatory input on commercial initiatives and advising on AML/CFT, sanctions, responsible gambling, consumer protection, data protection, and other key regulatory areas.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed regulatory requirements into business processes and operational decision-making.
- Manage the preparation, submission, and ongoing maintenance of gaming licence applications across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with licensing obligations and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Maintain regulatory registers, licences, approvals, and associated documentation, ensuring records remain accurate and up to date.
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with regulators and competent authorities, coordinating responses to regulatory enquiries, inspections, enforcement actions, and information requests.
- Support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of regulatory policies, standards, frameworks, and governance processes, ensuring alignment with applicable laws and licence conditions.
- Deliver regulatory training and awareness programmes to Compliance and operational teams while proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen existing policies and controls.
- Contribute to compliance monitoring activities, internal reviews, and audit processes to support effective regulatory governance.
- Collaborate closely with Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and operational teams to ensure consistent interpretation and application of regulatory requirements across the business.
- Lead or contribute to regulatory work streams within business projects, change programmes, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Support and mentor junior members of the Regulatory team by providing guidance and reviewing work where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate regulatory documentation and records while contributing to the continuous improvement of Regulatory team processes and ways of working.
- Perform additional regulatory and legal responsibilities as reasonably required.
Requirements
- Qualified lawyer with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law (LLB or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in regulatory, legal, or advisory roles, ideally within iGaming, fintech, financial services, or another regulated industry.
- Proven experience providing independent regulatory advice to internal business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience managing gambling regulatory and licensing matters across multiple jurisdictions, including the preparation, submission, and ongoing management of licence applications and regulatory filings.
- Strong knowledge of AML/CFT, responsible gambling, consumer protection, and broader gambling regulatory requirements.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex regulatory issues independently.
- Ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements and translate them into clear, practical, and commercially focused advice.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain regulatory matters to non-legal stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
