Summary
We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Auditor / Accounts & Audit Assistant to join our growing team due to continued business growth and an expanding client portfolio. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across accounting, tax and audit within a professional services environment.
Unlike larger firms, where responsibilities are often specialised, this role provides broad exposure across multiple service lines, allowing you to develop a well-rounded skill set while working closely with experienced professionals. The successful candidate will primarily support the accounting function while gradually becoming involved in audit assignments as their experience develops.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Maintain and update client accounting records, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and other balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist with the preparation of management accounts and year-end financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
- Prepare profit and loss statements and supporting schedules.
- Assist with the preparation and submission of VAT returns, tax returns and other statutory filings.
- Support the preparation of year-end tax computations and related compliance work.
- Assist with audit engagements from planning through to completion, including audit fieldwork, substantive testing and the preparation of audit working papers.
- Prepare and organise supporting documentation required for statutory reporting, audits and regulatory compliance.
- Liaise professionally with clients to obtain financial information, supporting documentation and respond to routine queries.
- Work collaboratively with senior team members across both accounting and audit engagements, depending on business requirements.
- Ensure assignments are completed accurately, efficiently and within agreed deadlines.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with clients while delivering a high standard of professional service.
- Keep up to date with relevant accounting, taxation and auditing standards, as well as legislative changes.
Key Requirements
- A minimum of an A-Level qualification in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, as you will also be having meetings on-site at clients’ offices when needed.
- Ability to manage multiple client assignments simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
- A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop across accounting, taxation and audit.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
